Amazon – “Home of Black Friday” Store Visit – Nov 22 2017
I have just been to visit the very interesting #Amazon #BlackFriday pop-up store in Soho square, #London, UK and it was a very fun and pleasant experience – with #Mince pies everywhere!!!
The outside of the store looks very “christmasy” with plenty of Christmas decorations and lots of gifts and home furnishing, and this continues as you walk in and throughout the two storey house. On the staircase are the key selling products from previous black Fridays – a nice touch I thought
In store is staffed by plenty of Amazon people, and you can use your Amazon App to order by scanning the product codes. All have a QR code and you take a photo and order at home or on the many Amazon Fire tables the staff were holding.
Inside is actually quite large (3,000 sq ft) and there are “real” rooms set up, and it does feel like a show home…eerily like a less cool IKEA. There was a great kitchen, where they had a handmade reseller making candles, which smelt fabulous. Upstairs there was a bedroom with makeovers and filming happening, and through to a bathroom.
Across from that was a play room, where you can “spin to win” – I didn’t win, but I was given a conciliation prize of a #lego helicopter
The Prime Now area was great – I could get my products home not long after I arrived home – a nice service that high street retailers should look to replicate (Argos is trying this, but does it work seamlessly for the customer?)
As a concept its a great idea – it brings you the Amazon curated range in one place and it is well executed and easy to shop
